Popular TV host Defne Joy Foster, 31, died an untimely death in İstanbul. She is survived by her husband Solmaz and her 2-year-old son Can Kılıç.
The exact cause of her death is not yet known, but there are various theories regarding it. Some people are speculating that she could have died due to an excessive intake of alcohol. Joy was known to be suffering from asthama and some people believe that she took medication to take care of a headache, but the chemicals reacted with the alcohol present in her blood stream and she died.
According to reports, Defne breathed her last at the abode of Kerem Altan, the son of Taraf daily Editor-in Chief Ahmet Altan. She went with Kerem and other friends to a bar and then reached Kerem’s house, where her health deteriorated. Kerem went out to fetch a doctor, but by the time he came back, she had already died.
The police are still working to uncover the exact cause of Foster’s death, but reports said she might have died due to excessive alcohol consumption. The house in the Kadıköy district where she died was the house of Kerem Altan, the son of Taraf daily Editor-in Chief Ahmet Altan. News reports said Foster was out on Tuesday night at a bar in Taksim with Altan and the two friends later went to Altan’s house. After a while, Foster lost consciousness.
An investigation has been launched into Foster’s death. Foster was taken to the morgue at the Göztepe Research and Training Hospital for an autopsy. Police reportedly detained Altan.
