this question can be answered thousands of different ways and really depends on a number of factors including your age, weight, height, genetics, and lifestyle.
For some people transforming your body may include adding muscle, losing fat or both. The simplest answer is to exercise more and eat less, but that is pretty vague, so lets explore this a bit more for someone who is just starting out and not a super athlete.

Exercise For Body Transformation

What are you currently doing for exercise now? If your answer is nothing then simply doing anything that elevates your heart rate and makes you sweat would be a good start. I recommend finding something you enjoy.
You will want to do a mixture of cardio, strength, and flexibility/core training to make sure you maintain as much lean mass as possible while melting fat off your body and preventing injury.
For cardio I recommend walking, jogging, hiking or better yet find a sport you enjoy like hockey, football, or tennis. Combing play and exercise is a great way to enjoy getting in great shape while having some fun.

For strength training I highly recommend lifting weights or doing some body weight exercises such as push ups, chin ups, lunges and squats.
